Stuff it!

So, I woke up this morning to find an e-mail from the place I interviewed last week saying, in similar terms, thanks but no thanks.

Wait, what?? WHAAAAT? The interview that I thought went really well?? So now I am confused, and back at the drawing board. I guess it was nice of them to at least let me know, but I still hope their building burns down in a firey blaze of terror-filled shrieks that can be heard two counties over.

*charming smile!*

So yes, they can stuff it. I hope whoever they pick has really bad body odor!

.. Okay, now I'm done. Honest!!

In my unemployment phase, I have been reading a lot of books. I am BFF with our local library and their online reservations database, so I'm hoping to post some book reviews once I finish the one I'm currently working on. My question to you fellow reader-types ... any suggestions for new books? I'll read pretty much anything, but sometimes historical non-fiction will put me to sleep. Example... I checked out Skeletons on the Zahara a few weeks ago, as the description on the back looked like a great read! Fast forward to a few days later, where I have the prologue and about half of the first chapter under my belt, and I find this book is about as interesting to me as a sack of old boots. Hey, I tried! ;)

Suggest away!

All right, that's all from the seaside for today. It's rainy and gloomy out, so I think I'm going to set myself up with a movie! And don't forget about my giveaway, it ends Wednesday and it's right over there. :)

If you are looking for something to read I just had my first novel "Invasive Thoughts" published and I'd be happy to send you the proof copy (the one before I made the final formating changes and fixed a couple goofs).

WTH!?! That's exactly what Target did to me! What is with these companies thinking it's okay to send a damn email like that after you took your time to interview with them?

Ugh. You're too good for them anyway lady.

What we need to do is start a business together and take the world by storm!

What?? We can totally burn that company down *evil smile* LOL

Seriously, I'm sorry you didn't get the job. I'm pretty sure there's something better for you. I don't have a book to suggest to you. I haven't been in a bookstore for some time now. Hihi...

Sorry to hear about the job, I'll join in sending them bad vibes.

Have you tried reading anything by Murakami? His writing reminds me of David Lynch's movies.

If you don't mind Sci Fi check out The Light of Other Days by Arthur C Clarke. It has a really interesting concept.

I'm currently reading a book called The Historian (I know sounds boring) but it's not a bad read. It's hard to explain but it about a quest to find Dracula's tomb (the real Dracula who actually lived, Vlad the Impaler)

my book club just finished reading Neither Sand nor Sea by Kathleen Kubik. The author came to our bookclub and was really cool and nice.
I suggest reading it. Nice quick "easy" type of a read.
It has a lot to do with the beach.

My favorite books right now are:
Good Omens
American Gods
both by Neil Gaimen

I hope you enjoy them!

Sami, I am so sorry they turned you down. Do you have a phone number of the place? Can you call them back and just sweetly say "I was surprised that you filled the position with someone else. Can you please keep me in mind for future openings?" Or some such sweet stuff so they remember you just in case?

Gosh, that has to be so hard!

Maybe their building will burn down, then they'll build an even bigger building so they'd need more staff, and you'd be in!

As for books, I like Barry Eisler's books. It's fiction mystery/thriller I think (I'm not good with genres) Check him out http://www.barryeisler.com/ if you want. I love the real-world locations involved in the books as they include Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, Brazil, USA, France, etc Fun stuff.

I'm sorry about the job. Obviously they don't know what they're missing out on!

Try these books:

A Thousand Splended Suns
Kite Runner
Julie and Julia
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
The Time Traveler's Wife
The Thirteenth Tale
The Persia Cafe

Aww, Sami! I'm sorry you didn't get the job. I'm kinda with Jenny in maybe calling back and letting them know to keep you in mind, IF you really want to work there.

But, you know, YOU felt you had a good interview and now you're left wondering.... So, if I were you, I might call and say that you know the position was given to someone else, but that you felt you had a good interview and if you could know, for the next time you might interview somewhere, what suggestions they had for improvement in that area. (It's basically saying "hey, what did I do wrong, because clearly I must have since you didn't hire me." If you want. Just a thought. That way you might be able to understand. But, maybe they're just dummies!

As for books, I also recommend the Thirteenth Tale. I think I may have mentioned The Chocolate Pot (by Wrede and Stevermer) -- Jane Austen meets magic. Oh, and if you haven't, read AJ Jacobs "The Know it All." It's hilarious! And, if you don't mind epic fantasy, give The Wheel of Time (by Robert Jordan) a time (first book is called The Eye of the World). Or, the Sword of Truth series isn't bad, first book there is Wizards' First Rule (it's the series the TV show Legend of the Seeker is based on). Also, anything by Brandon Sanderson is recommended.

Are you on Goodreads? I have tons of stuff on there that I've read that I can suggest, but I'm too lazy to get the list out. LOL
