Nothing is more relaxing than going to the beach in the morning! Beats the crowds, too. :) I actually managed to get -in- the water today, still a little too chilly to swim in, but it'll warm up soon! Usually by August it's like bathwater here.
We've had an obscenely busy weekend; interested in home-buying, pretty much all of yesterday was devoted to that. Now we're getting ready to do our groceries, and take some photos of one house we were really interested in.
I'm desperately trying to catch up on LOST, and I'm about midway through Season 3, hoping I can watch some more today! I want to catch up before the next season starts ... can I do it?!?! We'll see!!

My Maus
Oh look, it's a picture of my cat! Well, one of my cats. They both look startlingly like this that it's really hard for me to tell exactly which cat this is. But upon closer examination, it's Finnegan, my big 15 pound monster. Finny is a MASSIVE cat, but he's a lot like Ferdinand the Bull in that he'd rather be picking daisies than being a big mean bully. He's really scared of everything; every time the pizza man knocks, he runs and hides behind the bed. He's barely two but he's already had extensive patella & ACL surgery on his left leg, and has gone through a lot, and in doing so has a not completely functioning left leg. But you wouldn't know it by the way he torpedoes around the place! He really is the sweetest boy. <3
Oh look, it's Finn again! No wait, that's his sister Kerrigan, who looks a LOT like Finns but is a petite little 8 pound girly girl. She's very demanding, just like a good little girl, especially when she wants attention. She enjoys food she can't have, like milk and hamburgers, butting her head against the coffee table repeatedly, and sleeping direcdly against my leg at night so she can't move. Oh, and being very very adorable.
Thems are my cats, because I'm pretty worn out tonight, but wanted to blog something fun. What's funner than twin white cats with Irish names? ... Don't answer that!

Captain Rumbles
I was going to post about Ladderball and it's seemingly recent surge into popularity and about how I think it's a pretty retarded game, but I decided not to. ... Wait, I just did!
We have a neighbor that recently bought a motorcycle. It's very obvious by the bike he chose to buy that it was a very impulse, "WHOA BIKES RULE I GOTTA HAVE ONE" purchase... it's this little black dingy thing with no badge on it at all (Harley? Buell? Bueller?) that looks like it could have been a small roadster at once, but now just has the word SOUTHSIDE emblazoned in big grey capital Olde English-ey letters on the side of it.
I don't think Captain Rumbles (yeah, that's what we call him when we hear the bike backfire and start up ... "hack hack hack pff pff BRRRRRMMM... oh, Captain Rumbles is at it again..." ) realized how much of a fixer-upper it was when he bought it; all he really does is go outside, turn it on a few times a day, rev the hell out of it, look at it thoughtfully, turn it off, and come back upstairs. Sometimes he'll hop on it and take it around the circle here, but always comes back right away. There's something very obv. wrong with it, as it revs with the noisy fury of a bajillion angry metallic bumblebees dragging tin cans behind them. Dude doesn't know what is wrong, however, but seems to think turning it on, revving it thoughtfully a few noisy times, then turning it off will fix it.
Well it hasn't worked for the past week, and it isn't working any better now. Perhaps a trip to Ye Olde Bike Shop is in order?
It really is loud and unfortunate. I wonder if he'll just try and turn it for a profit or something. Lesson be learned, purchase carefully!

Beach Crowding = Fire Hazard?
That's pretty much what the beach looked like today!!
We did our 3 mile walk around the Loop today, and as I always really enjoy doing, took a sidetrip onto the beach. (Shoes off, of course :D) It was PACKED!!!! I don't think I have ever seen it so jammed! It's been a wonderful Memorial Day weekend here though, nice and warm, and the water is pretty temperate, so I can't blame anyone! I think we may try to get our piece of the beach tomorrow; hopefully everyone will be leaving? Hmmmmm... we'll see!!
Also BTW, our salads last night were THE BOMB. Fresh spinach, onions, cukes, a little carrot thrown in for flavor, white cheddar... yummm... I heart me some salads. :) Best part is, leftovers for later on this week! Win!
I headed over to JoAnn Fabrics today and got some really cute assorted fabric squares and some elastic, and started to sew myself some fun bandanna-like headbands. (Think a big triangle of patterned or printed fabric with an elastic on two ends behind your ears and around the back of your head...) A cute & fun summery option for my short hair that likes to look like roadkill sometimes in this southern humidity. :| Did one tonight, maybe a few more tomorrow!

Holiday Weekends & Tourists
Aaaaaaah, weekend. :)
We headed down to the Farmers Market today and picked up some yummy fresh spinach & cukes to start off a salad for tonight. (We also got a fresh baked cheddar garlic loaf... yum!!) We're going to hard-boil some eggs we had, then add some red onion and bacon bits. (I want a little carrot in mine, too!) And we got some creamy light cheddar we're going to cube on top ... salad with bread & cheese & fresh cold brew iced tea! YUM!!!! That's a light summer meal right there. :D
Summer ... brings me to my next thoughts that have been bungling around in my head for a while.
Summer in a southern coastal town inevitably means one thing - TOURISTS. AUGH. I have a love/hate relationship with them. Mostly hate. I love it because of the uber business they bring to all our awesome, really original & tasty local eateries and venues, as it helps keep them going through the non-tourist seasons. But I hate them...
... clogging up our roads ...
... taking all our parking spots ...
... oh yeah, good luck finding a parking spot near the beach from May to September! ...
... driving real slow, looking at things (lost again? yeesh) ...
Yeah yeah, I shouldn't complain; everyone has the right to go to the beach in the summertime. I love the beach!, that's why I live here. But, UGH. Sometimes I want to make a sticker, and put it on my car, that says, "I LIVE HERE!"; I think it would make me feel better about being local and paying taxes year round, only to sit in traffic for triple the time just to go to my favorite restaurant during tourist season.
I live here, so why do I drive around for an hour looking for a parking spot at the beach? Because of TOURISTS. D: Aaaagrhgahrgahra. I will continue to hiss at out of state plates in my mind! :O Sssssssss~
But I heart my little beach town, tourist season or not!! :D

hump day! ( who named that anyway... perverts )
happy wednesday! :)
matt & i took the kitties to the vet today for their yearly checkup... surprisingly neither one of them got wacked off their rockers and were very good in the car and in the office! poor finn gets so nervous though, so he just sort of lays in his banana-looking carrier with a "3:" face and his ears shake a little. kerri could care less!
came home, took a nice walk, and grilled up some honey-basil porkchops for dinner. YUM! healthy & tasty!
i can't remember if i mentioned it in the last entry, but we're going to check out the farmer's market this weekend, and pick up some yummy fresh veggies to make a nice salad with this memorial day weekend! i heart salad, especially with hard boiled eggs. and i REALLY like corn kernels in salad!! yum :3

first post @ my new blog! woot!
wowie, the first post at my new blog. :) good stuff!
i used to have a LOT of blogs on blogger/blogspot, but that was a looong time ago. i feel bored with livejournal, and want to branch out more! so here i am.
i hope to post here more often, and with more interesting content. at least once a week! now that i have a fresh new blog-thing YEAH :D i want to be more up to date with my hobbies and cooking and exercise and stuff we do here in the wilm. so yeah! YEAH
i can change fonts on here i think! is this a new font now? it sure is. WAUW~
tonight matt & i went to the little dipper for dinner and had a havarti fondue cheese with dill and white wine. it was AMAZING. i heart me some fondue cheese!! i called him "a big fart" at the table because he forgot his wallet in the car (he ran back to get it), and the waiter-guy laughed. heehee :3
colours are cool. tomorrow i leave work early and we have to take kiki & finns to the vets for their yearly junk. THAT should be fun; i already got the carrier out and they sit there and stare at it like this O____O for a while. hmmmmmm...
