Technology - woof!!!

So I've been a Verizon customer for insert number of years now, and I've had the awesome LG Chocolate special strawberry edition for a few years now ...

So after going without a phone upgrade for a few years I had some credit with Verizon, and after some deliberation between the Blackberry Curve and LG Touch (honestly, after using the iTouch, the LG touch just seems clunky... like going from filet mignon to skirt steak... LOL!) I bit the bullet and this came in the mail today:

Aaaaahhhh! Never before have I felt so OLD while trying to use this phone!!! There are a lot of bells and whistles and trackballs and buttons, and I'm very apprehensive to backing out of a menu I don't want to or something, and where exactly are my ringtones, and how come I can't change the background, and how the hell can I stop the little blinky from blinking every single time some goon on my Facebook updates their status?? (Mind you I haven't read the instruction manual too much... that's how I roll!) Where the hell is the internet? I'm not going to ring up a jillion dollar bill by being on it a lot, even with the Blackberry Doodlydoo Web Mail plan? Can I blog from it??

I guess I'm saying I feel old because my younger self would have figured everything out with this phone like, yesterday. And my 28 year old self is ... ok, I'll admit it, a little intimidated by the metallic pink thingy sitting on my coffee table and blinking at me with some sort of message. I turn 29 next month and fear for my technology-riddled future.

So, I guess while I love technology and new gadgets, it's only to an extent, and to technology, I say ... WOOF!!!!

I've had blackberries for years and I've been using the curve for over a year now. That phone is incredibly powerful once you get used to it and learn its shortcuts especially. I respond to 99pct of comments on my bb and as you may have seen, I've posted a few on it too.

Ill help you anyway I can if you need it$

I'm totally jealous. I can't afford one any more... had one but for some reason it isn't compatible with Canadian service providers. so now I have a crap phone.

Plans are more expensive here anyway

I got just under a year left on my Katana Deluxe from Sprint and they are already calling trying to get up to upgrade my phone. I figure by this time next year I will have enough credits saved up for a BB.

I have a few years on you and I can't get enough of the technology, I may not understand it at first but I will figure it out. You can do this, make that beautiful phone work for you.

Well, at least it's a seriously cute pink phone and you'll look stylish while struggling getting to know it ;)

Pretty new phone! You have to get a data plan with the phone though don't you...I wish the prices weren't so darn high! ;) Internet through a computer for me will suffice for now...

I too feel your pain about technology. I still don't own a Blackberry or iPhone, I can barely eek out a text message that is coherent, and forget about tweeting! I am still struggling to understand the actual purpose of Twitter.

So cute!!! One day, if my business ever takes off, I want a blackberry. But, alas, not yet.

And don't feel bad about the gadgets, you'll catch up!! Heck, my hubby and I had texting disabled on our plan because we don't normally text, but people text US and we get charged for it -- even wrong numbers. I drew the line at spam texting, and so we cut them off. Hah. How's that for backwards?!

Eeep, 29?! Wow ... now I feel old. Le sigh.

You'll get used to it! I just got a Berry myself and it took about a month. Now I can't live without it :-)

If you feel old then I'm a fossil! Hehehe. I don't have a phone but I have seen others do some fantastic things with them.

Your Blackberry with all its gadgets, buttons, and icons looks fantastic. And, I suspect you'll be a pro in no time. Yours amazes me - internet on a phone - boy has technology advanced.

Enjoy your Blackberry, my friend and a happy up-and-coming Birthday!

Hugssss, Susan
