Happy September!!
Regardless of when the actual technical "fall season" starts, September is just it for me. It's a month of changes; school always begins anew here, the temperatures start cooling down, New England slowly starts to look like the above photo, and I turn one year older!!
Seems some other of my blog-buddies are September babies as well, so happy birthday to y'all!! :) My birthday actually falls on the exact same day as my grandfather's -- cool, huh? He'll be 89 this year! DANG!!
But September is the beginning of my favorite season. From now until New Years is my absolute favorite time of year, hands down! Fall is such a lovely season, and it gets me excited for the upcoming holidays to spend time with family and friends and eat lots of awesome food and buy gifts for loved ones. It's all good times from here, baby! (Or one can hope.)
What are your favorite things about fall?
Mine are, in no particular order:
- Getting to wear comfy cozy long sleeves when it gets chilly
- Pumpkin and spice flavored breads, muffins, pies, and coffees! YUM!!
- The crisp chill in the air, and the clean smell. Sluggish humidity, begone!
- FOLIAGE! Although, down here in NC, it's pretty sparse compared to what I'm used to...
- Upcoming holidays. I get so anticipatory!
September also marks the last third of 2009. It's SO weird for me to think that 2010 is on its way... it's still so "Future-y" (think Jetsons maybe) to me. Where is my flying car?? Wait... that's probably a very dangerous idea.

Hello? Where are baseball playoffs on this list?!?!
i love the change in seasons!
hooded sweatshirts and mittens...two of my favorite fall things.
oh, and i'm enjoying the blog.
I love the earthy, smokey smell of the air on some autumn evenings, as people light bonfires to dispose of dead leaves, or indeed for Guy Fawkes.
I like the fact that I can wear my heavier, black clothes.
I love pumpkin carving.
Although it's spring here now, there's one place I love in autumn and I try and go there every year. It's a lane with these old oak trees shedding their leaves when you walk underneath the leaf-like canopy and it's just the most amazing feeling in the world; it's like time stops for a few minutes. I love autumn :)
Long sleeves and sweaters. With cute boots, jeans and cooler weather.
The changing of the leaves.
And the smell. The smell of that change that comes!
Ooh, I love it, too! I get hot apple cider daily and stop at orchards all over the place. I love crisp air and red wine (I trend towards whites in the summer so am usually dying for something mulled and spicy). I love cute sweaters and breaking out my boots and tromping through leaves with my dog going apeshit for them. Pure bliss...
Another September baby right here! My favorite things about fall are the cool air, the ability to wear fluffy sweatshirts and the leaves (unless i have to clean them up).
I think you would agree with me when I say, New Englanders have the best weather between late Aug and early Oct. I'm just sayin'!

Apple picking and the pumpkin spices and pies and apple cider! Although I'm sad to see summer start to phase out, I am looking forward to a beautiful autumn.
goddamn I love autumn!
I like the very beginning of winter too when girls start wearing scarves! Gets me all riled up.
That's just one breathtaking picture. I don't give your blog nearly enough love.
Things I love about fall. Getting to wear fabulously fit and way too expensive jeans that I really an't afford but they just are , oh so delicious, and NOTRE DAME football.
i love the fall. it's my favorite time of the year! i love the smell, colors, feeling, longing to cuddle w/ the hubby, crispy leaves, beautiful mountains here in TN, i love everything about the fall!
I saw you at 20something bloggers and decided to stop by and say hello. I love, love, love fall, especially here in NC. It's my favorite time of the year for so many reasons - the colors, the weather, the fair, holidays and most favorite reason - jumping in a huge pile of leaves with my little boy. Stop by my blogs and say hi whenever you have some time.
